Green Warriors Club
is for anyone who is passionate about the world around them and wants to make a difference by working together with others to make the world locally and globally a ‘better place for everyone’. If you love different aspects of the outdoors, this is the club for you!
This includes the chance to grow your own, enjoy the sunshine (and rain), make friends and get fit. You’ll have the opportunity to cultivate vegetable plots, plant flower beds, herb gardens and grow fruit; as well as use green materials for plant arrangements e.g. upcycled tyre planters for the school grounds to attract insects. We also photograph and research things that we see in the landscape and print these to display in our school grounds.
There will be the opportunity to learn horticultural techniques, including crop rotation, pest control and composting, to gain the most from the soil; and listen to invited speakers. There will be a chance to set up a market stall and sell the produce.
We aim to organise a club outing once every term e.g. visit garden centres, Panshanger Park, Hertswood Forest or horticultural centres (e.g. Capel Manor).
You may also participate in our Green Warriors Club by visiting and making contributions to our Green Club Google Classroom, where you will find lots of interesting hints and tips about how to enjoy and appreciate nature and the changing seasons. If you are interested in sustainability, you’ll be able to lead campaigns to inspire your peers on the importance of being eco-friendly and making our school a more sustainable environment, as well as raise awareness on global issues – lots of us together can make a significant difference.
If you are creative, you’ll have the chance to reuse and repurpose and upcycle materials e.g. make CD bird scarers, eco bricks for a school raised flower bed, pillow case dresses for children in developing countries, crisp packet sleeping bags for the homeless. If you are passionate about our world, join Green Warriors! If you have creative ideas or a particular talent, you can have fun working with others to ‘save the world’!
