Year 7 students are learning about streamlining and motion in science. As part of their exploration into the effects of streamlining, they designed a new school uniform to reflect a look with less air resistance. Here are some of their designs.
Students and staff celebrated World Religion and Culture Week (w/c 18th January 20201) by sharing and learning about the religion and culture of our diverse school community. The Student Equality and Diversity Committee provided an informative and thought provoking presentation on cultural appropriation and appreciation and invited other students to take part in an exhibition of religious and cultural appreciation, and recipe book. Students enjoyed sharing their own religion and culture and learning about others. Throughout the week, students and staff also showed their appreciation for world languages by greeting each other in another language. This week, 20 girls from Year 9 took part in an exciting virtual employability skills workshop run for us by the Early Talent Team and a host of generous business volunteers at Computacenter. We were given an overview of the business and completed some ice breaker activities before forming mini business groups to choose a product to develop for market. An exciting wearable watch was chosen, and teams competed to develop pricing, branding and target marketing strategies before designing a presentation of their ideas for a panel of judges. All teams were brilliant, with the judges commenting that our pupils had an excellent approach to problem solving and teamwork. Congratulations to the winning team of Zara, Amelia, Grace and Kathlyn! The day also involved a networking session in which pupils chatted with business leaders about their career paths, current roles and the choices they had made along the way. It was a very interesting and informative day and enjoyed by all. Many thanks to our friends at Computacenter for their generous support with this fantastic event.
