History Detective Club (KS3)
Love History? Enjoy solving historical mysteries? Fascinated by ‘hidden’ stories? Want to unlock the ‘secrets of the past’? Then this is the club for you! What we investigate each week is guided by you, the club members. Some of the questions we have researched and debated previously have included: Was the Titanic sinking faked? What is the Bermuda triangle? What is the Mandela effect? We also made our very own suffragettes! What could be more fun? And you get to learn to some great new stuff too! So, if you love all things History and are in Year 7, 8 or 9, then come and join the History detectives!
Parallel History (KS4 & 5)
Parallel Histories for Year 10 & 12 offers a new way to study the history of conflict – history which is still contested, controversial and relevant. We look at the competing narratives – seek them out, lay them side by side and challenge students to immerse themselves in both and form their own judgement. Topics include the Arab – Israel conflict, Northern Ireland and Scottish Independence. Students are challenged to examine the source evidence and debate alternative interpretations before coming to their own view. We then debate inline and in person with schools across the country. These are skills which not only help young people with the study of history, but also prepare them to become active citizens in healthy pluralistic democracies
