Life Skills
At Bishop’s Hatfield Girls’ School Life Skills provision includes Citizenship Education and Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE).
We believe these areas are complementary, inter-related and all contribute to a young person’s personal development.
Lessons are structured to give a comfortable, safe environment in which girls feel free to express their opinions and discuss issues without fear of belittlement. We use a variety of teaching methods including role play, discussion, practical experience and games as well as written and oral work. As many issues are of a personal nature we do not insist that each girl has to contribute to all discussions but we do encourage them to do so when they feel comfortable.
Many topics are revisited each year. As girls experience maturity we give more appropriate information and more opportunities for discussion and opinion forming. Other topics may be visited once or twice according to the needs of each year group.
