Y7 Science Poetry Competition
Where English Poetry meets Biology and Art
As part of Biology Week 2020, Year 7 pupils created a nature themed poem during their English lessons. They used their impressive vocabulary, biology knowledge and craft skills to design a wide variety of poems exploring many aspects of nature, from the life of a Covid virus through to a day in the life of a rabbit!
Mehenu Ahmed (7 Hadid) won first place for the vocabulary choices she made and her artistic layout. Jolana Hewitt (7 Seacole) came second for her artistic use of 3D and clear reference to the life cycle of a flowering plant. Aila Hebblethwaite (7 Parr) won third place for her clear poem structure and her interesting biology reference.
Well done to all the students who took part. Choosing only three winners was incredibly hard!
