International Law Firm Opens Its Doors to Year 12 Legal Minds
A-Level Law students from Year 12 were given a glimpse into the world of global legal practice during an inspiring visit to international law firm Clifford Chance in London.
On Wednesday 28th June, 31 Sixth Form students travelled to the firm’s spectacular offices in Canary Wharf – complete with an in-house gym, hair salon, and even a swimming pool with a view – to learn about life in commercial law.
The day kicked off with a warm welcome from Jo, Clifford Chance’s Senior Community Outreach Specialist, who introduced students to the firm’s global reach and commitment to inclusion. This was followed by a guided tour of the building’s impressive facilities.
Zoe, an Early Talent Acquisition Advisor, then shared valuable insights into what top employers look for in applicants – curiosity, enthusiasm, and a willingness to reflect on and learn from all experiences. She encouraged students to focus on their personal strengths and to always research thoroughly before applying to any firm.
Next came the highlight of the day: a fast-paced careers carousel where students quizzed lawyers at different stages of the profession. Among them was a BHGS alumni now forging her own path as a trainee at Clifford Chance, proving that the journey from classroom to City firm is more than possible. Students also met with in-house lawyers from Deutsche Bank, one of Clifford Chance’s major clients, and gained a valuable perspective on client-lawyer relationships.
After a networking lunch overlooking the Thames, students returned home inspired, describing the trip as ‘insightful’ and ‘motivational’.
