Year 8 Historians investigate the impact of the British Empire and the Slave Trade
Year 8 History pupils have been studying the British Empire and the slave trade. This topic has focused on Britain’s role, the experiences of enslaved people on British plantations in Jamaica and the impact of the slave trade of on Black British people in the 18th Century. In their work on the abolition, year 8 pupils studied the role of enslaved people in fighting for freedom, alongside the role played by influential British men. The pupils produced excellent work throughout that demonstrated their understanding of the complexities of this topic and the importance of learning about diverse voices and stories.
