Year 8 geographers visit Kew Gardens
An exciting fieldtrip to Kew Gardens
To help learn about plants in the different ecosystems from across the globe, Year 8 geographers got a chance to visit Kew Gardens on Thursday 30th September. The girls enjoyed a fun day out, visiting Kew’s Treetop walk, the Palm House and the Princess of Wales Conservatory. This was an opportunity for the Year 8s to see how the vegetation from each biome adapts to its unique climate and environment. We had a great day learning about hot desert cacti with their rolled up leaves (spikes) to reduce transpiration and tropical rainforest plants with their drip tips to shed the heavy rain. Thank you to Mrs Langston for organising the Kew Gardens visit!.
