Investigating Global Shift
Are most cars owned by staff at BHGS manufactured in High Income Countries
Year 12 geographers recently surveyed the staff car park to test the theory of global shift in manufacturing from High Income Countries, such as the UK, to Newly Emerging Economies, such as China and India. We also chose different sampling techniques to help out, to help us understand the pros and cons of each sampling technique.
The conclusions of the survey were that there was some evidence of global shift. However, because many of the car manufacturing companies and large TNCs, they often choose a European country such as Romania, Spain and Slovakia to locate a factory, where wages are generally lower compared to the UK and the USA. Global shift is slowly moving East!
