St Albans Schools Book Awards Ceremony
Y7 Chatterbooks attended the St Albans Schools Book Award ceremony
The Y7 Chatterbooks book club attended the St Albans Schools Book Award day hosted at St Columba’s College, St Albans on Thursday 12 December . The girls had all been diligently reading (and even re-reading!) the three shortlisted books over the past two months in readiness for the book discussion groups and associated quizzes. The day culminated in a brilliant talk by author Lisa Thompson, last year’s winner with The Goldfish Boy. Lisa gave a fascinating account of her journey to becoming a writer and where she draws her inspiration from. She then read from her latest book The Day I was Erased. Students were fortunate enough to get a sneak-peak at Lisa’s newest title The Boy Who Fooled the World which will be released 2 January 2020.
All in all the girls thoroughly enjoyed their day at the St Albans Schools Book Awards.
Mrs Roth, Senior Librarian
Last Thursday the year 7 book club (ChatterBooks) attended the St Albans Book Awards. We had to read 3 books which were: Boy Underwater (Adam Baron), No Fixed Address (Susin Nielsen) and The Children of Castle Rock (Natasha Farrant) – they were all great. We were split into 8 groups and battled against each other to see which group were the ultimate book readers. During the quizzes we all had opportunities to win amazing books and we got to meet the brilliant author Lisa Thompson (author of The Goldfish Boy, The Day I Was Erased and so much more). Everybody could purchase a Lisa Thompson book and get it signed! The whole day was absolutely amazing and I would like to thank the two librarians that took us on the trip.
