Rainy rocket launches for British Science Week
Year 5 pupils from St Philip Howard Primary School launched their rockets with the help of Bishop’s Year 9 scientists as part of British Science Week
On Tuesday 12th March, all the Year 5 pupils from St Philip Howard Primary School visited Bishop’s with their rockets. They had DIY rocket packs delivered to them in January by the Science Faculty and they worked in groups of 3, designing and creating their own rockets. Despite the rain, all the pupils were keen to see their rockets launch and compare how far they all travelled. I helped the pupils load their rockets onto the rocket launch stations, designed by Mrs Keay, along with 11 other year 9 scientists. Each rocket’s distance was measured and the team which achieved the longest range won Easter eggs, as well as a special award for the design of each rocket. Everyone had lots of fun even if we did get a bit wet!
