Local Councillors launch Bishop’s Parliament Week at Equali-Tea
Local Councillors helps launch Parliament Week in Equali-tea at Bishop’s
Our Year 12 Government & Politics students were joined by Councillor Barbara Gibson, Councillor Helen Quenet & Lynda Cowen to launch Parliament Week at Bishop’s. The students discussed and celebrated the history of suffrage in the United Kingdom, including The Representation of the People (Equal Franchise) Act 1928 which granted equal voting rights to men and women over the age of 21. The students had the opportunity to play a Suffragettes board game with the visitors and learn lots about the Suffragette movement and the importance of having their political opinions heard. #UKPW18
