German Cultural Week
Germanic Cultural Week culminates in the Year 7 Advent Wreath Competition
Many of the Christmas traditions in the UK have their roots in German traditions and with this in mind, to mark Germanic Cultural Week, Year 7 pupils took part in an Advent Wreath building House competition.
The wreaths were displayed in the library and the winners were: 1.Eleanor Pendrey 7Se 2.Marianne Zayed – 7Au 3.Lilyanna Moroney – 7Fr 4 Kanisha Jashani – 7 Pa 5 Amelie A / Riah J / Indie T / Zara M / Scarlett R – 7Ha
All Year 7 pupils also had the opportunity to write a letter to das Christkind, represented by a Christmas angel, who brings the gifts on Christmas Eve. The small town of Engliskirchen in Germany, annually receives hundreds of thousands of letters from children and a dedicated team of volunteer “angels” sends replies to them all. Hopefully our Year 7 pupils will get theirs back before the end of term.
