Primary School pupils investigate the science behind soup
Pupils from Countess Anne primary school enjoyed investigating the science behind their soup with the help of Bishop’s Science Faculty
Year 4 pupils from Countess Anne primary school in Hatfield enjoyed investigating various science aspects of their soup, as part of their STEM spring projects. Dr Bune, Mr Short and Ms Adams from the Science Faculty at Bishop’s introduced the pupils to various food tests so they could see how much fat and carbohydrate was present in their vegetable soups. Pupils worked in groups to carefully analyse the colour changes and record their results. The pupils went on to see how various types of insulation material could alter the temperature of their soup containers. After a tough period of time with limited practical work possible, these pupils were excited to work on their science skills and discover more about their food. Ms Mudd from Countess Anne said: ‘The children thoroughly enjoyed the experiments, and it was inspiring; the experiments also fit perfectly into what our pupils are doing.’
