A group of Year 8 scientists worked together to judge the shortlisted children’s science books as part of the Royal Society Young People’s Book Prize 2024
A group of our Year 8 scientists worked in teams to judge this year’s shortlisted Young People’s Science Books. The books were judged on their ease of reading, interest, look and feel and inspiration. The shortlisted books were: All Bodies are Wonderful, The Expanding World of Data, Can You Get Rainbows in Space?, Engineers Making a Difference and Mission Arctic. All books were given scores out of 5 for each category. After much deliberation, the winner put forward to the Royal Society was: ‘Can you Get Rainbows in Space?’.
‘All books were good’ said Sienna, one of the judges, ‘However the Can You Get Rainbows in Space book was unusual and really interesting’.
