Year 7 come 1st in the District Sports Hall Athletics
Bishop’s Year 7 Athletics team crowned joint-first in the District round of the Herts School Games Year 7 Sports Hall Athletics Competition
BHGS put in a brilliant display to finish joint-first in the District round of the Herts School Games Year 7 Sports Hall Athletics Competition at Ridgeway Academy on Thursday 3rd February.
One of the highlights was the team effort required to win the obstacle relay – a four-runner event involving hi-stepper, hurdles, speed bounce and a sprint. Miruna B, Georgia W and Lottie T combined to put BHGS in a good position and Zahra L completed the victory in style.
Lottie also recorded an amazing time in the four-lap race, while we’re pretty sure Connie D won both the long jump and triple jump.
Up against the best girls from four other schools, Berita D did well to finish third in the 12-lap race and Ruby L helped the team in two field events – the shot put and speed bounce.
Natu K put all her effort into her two-lap race and with fantastic support from Gwennie L and Ashley W, BHGS went into the final relay needing to beat Queenswood to secure outright victory. Unfortunately we narrowly failed, so ended up level on points to share first place.
Captain Connie said: “Well done everyone on a great result. And a big thank you to Miss Esterhuizen and Mrs Waters for coaching the team.”
