The Great Exhibition, a Year 8 Creative Assessment
Year 8 Creative History project on the British Empire
Our Year 8s excelled again this year in our most popular assessment for our History curriculum – The Great Exhibition.
Our Year 8 cohorts all create a stall for teachers and peers to walk around to understand the positives and negatives of different countries within the British Empire. We encourage the pupils to research and then make their own judgement of the legacy left by the British Empire in such locations as Hong Kong, South Africa and Kenya to name a few.
Our pupils really enjoy this project as they get to work in teams, be curious Historians and get a chance to “cook or bake up a storm” with country specific dishes. We were treated to some Anzac cookies and some sponge cakes decorated in flags! Mr Wood managed to pop in to interrogate a few of our historians on their judgement and of course sample a few cakes!
Well Done, Year 8!
