Sixth Form Geography Fieldwork
Developing data collection skills for the A-Level geography NEA
Year 13 students were prevented from attending their 4 day residential fieldtrip in March 2020 due to Covid-19. We were due to go on the fieldtrip one week after lockdown! The students attempted a replacement fieldtrip in September but unfortunately the weather turned as we arrived. A gale force storm had developed and it was unsafe to collect data. Our intrepid year 13 geographers successfully visited three beaches along the Southend Coastline and alsi9o visited Studland sand dunes, near Swanage, Dorset in November. Thankfully the weather was kind this time and the students were able to collect some excellent data to use for their Non-Exam Assessment coursework (20% of the A-Level Geography).
