Green Warriors explore wildlife at Panshanger Park
Green Warriors have a wonderful time exploring the flora and fauna at Panshanger Park
Panshanger Park was an amazing opportunity to explore local fauna and flora and the beautiful lakes that are in and around the park. We travelled there by minibus and it felt like travelling in an oven as it was a very hot, sunny day!
We played lots of fun games to spot the various animals and flowers to broaden our knowledge and understand the nature around us! We all had such a fun time and it was so nice to get out into the open air and embrace the wildlife.
At Panshanger Park, we walked the route to the oldest one-trunked oak tree in the UK. We saw one rabbit, two young deers, lots of cows, some swans, ducks, dragonflies, butterflies, bees, wasps. We saw some oak apples which are the galls from the oak apple gall wasps who lay their eggs which turn into larvae. We found cool-looking ruins that were apparently part of an old house, heard a woodpecker and even found a phoenix statue.
We cut through a wooded area and encountered lots of stinging nettles, and of course, some of us got stung by them! We quickly found dock leaves to rub on the stings which really helped. Our chocolate bars turned to liquid because it was such a hot day! We all had lots of fun and on the way back singing songs from Mufasa.
We had a wonderful time exploring the wildlife. Thank you to Mr Underwood for arranging the trip. We are looking forward to next year’s trip already!
