Congratulation to our 2nd Arkwright Engineering Scholar
BHGS is proud to announce its 2nd Arkwright Engineering Scholar in Year 12 STEM student, Amelia Zerny
Congratulations to Amelia Zerny in Year 12 for becoming an Arkwright Engineering Scholar for the duration of her A Level studies 2023-25.
The Arkwright Engineering Scholarships programme aims to identify, inspire and nurture future leaders in engineering, supporting the best and brightest to change the world through engineering. It is incredibly competitive to become an Arkwright scholar, and after completing an initial application, Amelia underwent a rigorous selection process including completing a two hour problem solving exam and an interview. During the panel session, Amelia presented her conclusions from an investigation she had run on the impact that spoilers have on a car’s movement. She had designed a makeshift wind tunnel to investigate the drag that different shapes cause.
Throughout the two years, Amelia will get some incredible opportunities including a F1 McLaren engineer as a mentor, and work experience opportunities at the McLaren Technology centre. Amelia will also get great links to engineering opportunities and career advice, opening a vast array of doors for her future. Amelia will also work in school with some of our younger pupils, inspiring the next generation of engineers to come. Congratulations Amelia, we are very proud of you – and very much look forward to hearing how you will get on.
