Year 8 Campaign on Local Issues in Life Skills
Year 8 Life Skills Student Campaigns
This term, the Year 8 pupils have been working on Campaigning in their Life Skills lessons. They have been taught about campaigning, protesting and been involved in debates about campaigning methods, from The Suffragettes to Just Stop Oil.
In recent weeks, they have worked in groups to identify and research local issues that are important to them and this week, they have been presenting their work using local statistics, data analysis, surveys etc. I have been very impressed with the wide range of issues that they have worked on from animal cruelty, knife crime and pollution to local shops selling vapes to children. Classmates are rating each group on their presentation skills, research and passion and winners announced after half term will receive lots of house points, as well as the opportunity to take their campaign to local councillors and community leaders.
