Biology Week DNA Experiment
An opportunity to use biotechnology equipment during Biology Week 2020
This week is Biology Week at school. There are lots of fun activities planned in lessons and at lunchtime. In our science lesson today, we used a micropipette to measure microlitre volumes. We used our new pipetting skills to place samples in a DNA agarose gel! We looked at the results from a DNA agarose gel and compared the sizes of the DNA bands to work out the genetic relationship of a family of orangutans. This was great fun and a chance for us to use biotechnology equipment that we would only get to use in a university laboratory.
