BHGS Sports Awards Evening 2024
Sports Awards Evening returns for the 2nd year at BHGS
On Thursday 4th July, the PE Department hosted 200 pupils and parents/carers for our 2nd annual Sports Awards Evening.
We were very grateful to have Josh Smith as our special guest speaker this year. Josh has officiated football at both the Championship and Premiership level and we were privileged to hear about his journey through PE teaching into a professional career as a football official.
Awards were given out across our main sports: Athletics, Badminton, Cross Country, Dance, Football, Gymnastics, Indoor Athletics, Netball, Rounders and Rugby.
Pupils were invited to the evening to receive the following awards – – Most Improved (voted for by staff), – Pupils Choice Award (voted for their teammates) and – Teachers Performer of the Year.
Pupils were also invited to receive their Junior Colours for outstanding contributions and commitment across Key Stage 3 and Senior Colours for outstanding contributions and commitment across Key Stage 4.
Programmes are still available for collection from the PE office if you did not get a chance to get on OR would like an extra copy (Please see Miss Cameron if this is the case).
The Special PE award winners for the night were as follows:
- Sports Leaders of the Year: Alex A and Ellis S
- Service to School Sport: Amelie H and Livi-Grace H
- KS3 Sports Performer of the Year: Georgia W
- KS4 Sports Performer of the Year: Anna S
- KS5 Sports Performer of the Year: Ena O
Thank you to all pupils who have attended and represented BHGS in our sports teams this year. It’s been a pleasure to watch you all develop and perform well both individually and as teams. There have been some excellent examples of sporting excellence and we look forward to much more success in the future at Bishop’s!
Thank you to Miss Cameron, Mrs Waters, Miss Nelson, Miss Rollings, Mr Kench, Mrs Newberry, Mrs Redpath, Ms McLeman and Mr Lister for all giving up vast amounts of time this year to allow our many sports teams to run.
A final thank you to the PE Department and Mr Kench for organising and hosting the night. See you all again next year!
