An Inspector Calls
Theatre brings English curriculum to life for GCSE pupils
On Wednesday 27th November, the English faculty took 46 Year 11 pupils to Aylesbury Waterside Theatre for a matinee performance to see a much acclaimed theatre version of J.B. Priestley’s play, An Inspector Calls. The play is an integral part of the GCSE English Literature syllabus and the theatre was full of school groups enjoying watching the text in production. The play has dynamic staging that shifts through the three acts of the play; seeing it live brings together all that the pupils have learnt in English lessons and helps them visualise the detailed stage directions and character descriptions that Priestley was so famous for. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon and pupils spoke animatedly about the theatre visit.
