Advent Wreaths Galore!
Year 7 provided the largest quantity of entries ever in this annual House competition!
This year, once again, the Languages Faculty ran the Year 7 German Advent Wreath House competition and we were overwhelmed with the array of creations of all sizes, colours, traditional and innovative, inspired by the German tradition of creating a horizonal wreath with four candles to mark the four Sundays in the run up to Christmas. In total 21 were entered, some of which can be seen in the photos. The competition was judged by Mrs Hughes and indeed it was a very hard task, such was the quality of the entries and were all on display in the Library last week. After much consideration the following positions were given:
• 1st Place – 100 House Point – 7Parr – Bianka McCombe – original, imaginative wreath with lots of beautiful colours • 2nd Place – 50 House Points – 7Austen – Mia Canter – Beautiful, traditional wreath, clearly lots of effort made • 3rd Place – 25 House Point – 7 Parr – Lily-Jade Tennyson home made candles, original presentation. • 4th Place – 10 House Points – 7 Seacole – Grace Mitchell – the most gorgeous wreath, beautifully presented • 5th Place – 10 House Points – 7 Hadid – Creative Team effort with authentic materials – Emma, Zoe W, Shayla, Poppy & Ileri
