Raucous rockets launched at Countess Anne Primary School
Year 7 Science club students help launch rockets designed by pupils at Countess Anne primary school
Science club students travelled to Countess Anne Primary School on the 11th May to launch rockets designed by the Year 5 pupils at the primary school. Mrs Keay, the senior science technician at Bishop’s, had organised and delivered a DIY rocket kit to the school so they could design their rockets as part of their STEM Week. They learnt how rockets work and what additions would make their rocket travel further. The primary school pupils worked in teams of 2 and launched their rockets, encouraged by myself and the other Bishop’s students who also measured and recorded the distances travelled by the rockets, to eventually find a winner. The winning rocket travelled over 39 metres! We all showed great teamwork and developed our communication skills by chatting and encouraging the Year 5 pupils. It was great fun and everyone enjoyed themselves.
