BHGS finish in 3rd place in the District Athletics Championships
On Friday 1st of July, four teams from Years 7,8,9 and 10 went with Miss Cameron, Mrs Waters, Miss Esterhuizen and Mrs Newberry to represent Bishop’s in the District Athletics Championships at Ridlins Athletics Track in Stevenage. The pupils had worked very hard throughout the season (and most had represented the Junior or Senior teams in the County League fixtures this year) so we were excited for a good day of Athletics performances.

Year 9 – Erin M, Stephanie O, Ruva R and Princela O-A – 2nd place.
Year 10 – Ruby C, Jasmine S, Amy P and Natu K – 2nd place.
This left our 4 teams in the following positions overall –

Year 8 – 3rd place out of 10 schools.
Year 9 – 3rd place out of 10 schools.
Year 10 – 3rd place out of 10 schools.
This meant that we finished in 3rd place in the girls competition overall behind Dame Alice Owens and Queenswood – a great result! As always, our pupils were fantastic and a credit to the PE department and Bishop’s.
A huge thank you to Mrs Waters, Miss Esterhuizen and Mrs Newberry for coming along for a very long day even with the spells of torrential downpour (see attached pictures). This was also made a little longer by the fact our coach was an hour and half late to pick us up after the competition…..) – needless to say we all slept very well on Friday night!!
