Young Adult Novel Author Visits Bishop’s

Simon James Green visits Bishop’s Hatfield Girls’ School

Award-winning author of young adult novels, Simon James Green, visited Bishop’s in November. He talked to year 7 and year 8 pupils about his writing experience and the importance of humor in books. His talks were very engaging with lots of pupil participation and laughter. After the talks, students had the opportunity to ask Simon questions about his experience of being a writer and where he finds his inspiration. At the end of the morning, students were excited to have their books signed by Simon.

Later in the day Simon ran two comedy writing workshops for some pupils where he guided pupils through his 3-step process to developing humorous characters and story lines. Students thoroughly enjoyed the workshops and developed some really imaginative characters who found themselves in some very funny situations!
