Year 8 Inter House Dance Competition 2021
Franklin twirl to victory in the Year 8 Inter House Dance Competition
On Tuesday 23rd and Wednesday 24th of November, Year 8 pupils competed in the Inter House Dance competitions in their double PE lessons.
This was the first Inter House Dance competition for this year group as it did not run last year and it was fantastic to see so many pupils involved and showing off a wide array of Dance skills!
PE teachers who would normally teach each half of the year group used a set criteria to award marks to each act and the pupils who were not performing were asked to vote for their favourite acts in terms of entertainment and choreography.
Each House could have a maximum of 3 entries per year group and acts could be soloists, duets, trios or larger groups depending on how many pupils wanted to be involved. For each person who participated they each received 1 House Point for their efforts and the act which received the most marks received the “Audience Choice” award in each half of the year group (plus 3 additional House Points).
The acts were combined for each half of the year group and the top 3 acts in each year group received 1 additional House Point – 3rd place, 3 additional House Points -2nd place and 5 additional House Points – 1st place.
The Year 8 final positions were as follows – 1st place – Coral E * 8Fr 2nd place – Lillia R * 8r Joint 3rd place Olivia D 8Fr/ Emma W 8Ha Joint 5th – Arabella A 8Ha/ Polly C 8Pa 7th place – Niamh R and Daisy V 8Se 8th place – Jasmine M and Olivia H 8Pa 9th place – Kitty B and Darcy W 8Se 10th place – Cecile R, Amy W, Molly P and Ella H 8Au 11th place – Lightning N-B 8Au 12th place – Alice W and Maia S 8Au 13th place – Mia J and Nathalie A 8Pa *=Audience Choice Vote (additional 3 HPs each
This meant that the overall positions for each House group finished as 1st – Franklin – 100 points 2nd – Parr – 50 points 3rd – Hadid – 25 points 4th – Austen – 10 points 5th – Seacole -10 points
A fantastic effort from all of the acts and a wonderful showcase of the dancing talent we have at Bishop’s – well done everyone!
A special thank you to the Drama staff who allowed us to swap teaching spaces so we could hold our competitions in the Main Hall.
