Year 12 take their Young Enterprise Business to a Christmas Market
Year 12 Young Enterprise Business, ‘All Women Ethical’ (AWE) make history
A group of year 12 Business Studies students have been working together since September to form their Young Enterprise Business. The YE Company Programme empowers young people to set up and run a student company under the guidance of a business volunteer. Students make all the decisions about their business, from deciding on the company name, managing the company finances and selling to the public. Participants gain practical business experience and key skills. The YE business is called AWE (All Women Ethical).
The students attended their first Trade Fair at the Harpenden Christmas Market on Sunday 27th November. They arrived at 10.30am to set up their stall and were able to start trading at 12 noon till 6pm. Despite some challenging set backs with slow dispatch of products, the students were able to sell some beautiful wax burners and Christmas scented star wax melts and beautiful handmade soy vegan candles, scented with rose, lavender, gingerbread and Christmas spices. As you can see from the photos, the stall looked attractive and sales were really encouraging. Nearly all the stock had been sold by the close of the market. Takings were in excess of £300 which is the highest takings from any of the Bishop’s Young Enterprise groups in the past, thanks to fantastic teamwork. The students learnt so much about marketing, pricing and the importance of being confident to approach the public and sell their products.
AWE will be visiting the Atria shopping centre in Watford at the beginning of February, so please look out for the date and come and support us!
