Summer School Fun
A fun introduction to starting secondary school for our new Year 7 pupils
This August, we once again welcomed a small number of Year 7 pupils to our week-long Summer School. We spent time making friends, finding out about what lessons are like at secondary school, getting comfortable in and around the school all while taking part in a wide range of fun activities across a variety of subjects. Pupils took part in a treasure hunt around the school, made delicious fruit kebabs as well as learning about Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream through activities in English, Drama, Dance, Humanities, Maths, Science and Spanish. We learnt about our wellbeing throughout the week with Daniella and Emame, from the Mental Health Support Team, delivering excellent sessions on looking after our wellbeing during times of change, which the pupils said were really useful. At the end of the jam-packed week, the pupils said that they felt more confident with the start of Year 7 approaching, which was fantastic to hear! The pupils and staff involved had a great week and we look forward to getting to know everyone in Year 7 better as they embark on their Bishop’s journey in September.
