Life Skills

At Bishop’s Hatfield Girls’ School Life Skills provision includes Citizenship Education and Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE) – Economic wellbeing and financial capability and Personal wellbeing – as we believe these areas are complementary, inter-related and all contribute to a young person’s personal development. Life Skills helps pupils become thoughtful, informed and responsible citizens.

Lessons are structured to give a comfortable, safe environment in which girls feel free to express their opinions and discuss issues without fear of belittlement.  We use a variety of teaching methods including role play, discussion, practical experience and games as well as written and oral work.  As many issues are of a personal nature we do not insist that each girl has to contribute to all discussions but we do encourage them to do so when they feel comfortable.
